5.0 out of 5 stars A new design doesn't work for me. I used Cuinart Basic Food Processor for 43 years, no problem.
What happened to a new Cuisinart Food Processor? I have had the Cuinart Basic Food Processor D6085039 since 1983 using for 43 years. Unfortunately I grated a block cheese and blade stuck inside of the work bowl. It is simple to operate, powerful, and efficient. the motor is still working well but I can not take the food out. The new one that I bought has a lot wrong with the design. First, it wouldn't close the lid unless the pusher is in, leaving not much room to place food to shred. Pusher should be independent. No instructions how to assemble but going right into a long list of recipes. I wish I can buy replacedment part(work bowl) for my old model. Don;t change the design if it is working well.

[Update]After using this item for a few months, I've found it quite good. However, there are two major issues which I hope Cuisinart can fix in the next model.First, the safety locking mechanism is pretty complicated making it difficult to clean. The lid and bowl both have a small hollow column which houses the shaft that comprises the safety locking mechanism. These elements are very annoying to clean if anything gets inside. I've found this to be more and more of a downside every time I wash it.Second, and this was a surprising and more serious issue, but I was recently finely grinding about 2 cups of lean meat for beef meatballs, and occasionally the blade would jump out of the shaft, stop moving, and get stuck. Most likely some meat got lodged under the blade and caused it to lift up. This caused the blade to cut a deep scratch in the bowl. Unlike some other models there is no spindle or other mechanism to hold the blade in place. It's only held in place by the tight fit between the shaft and the blade. If this keeps happening I think eventually it will damage the bowl/blade beyond repair. I'm not even sure if any plastic got in the food. Although this happened with meat, I'd imagine it might happen with any similar thicker food. With the locking mechanism for the safety lid being so complex, maybe some better locking mechanism could be created for the blade.[Intro]I’ve always wondered if I really needed a food processor since I already have a stand mixer and blender, but with the reviews of the Cuisinart Custom being so good, I decided to give it a try.[Build Quality]The base is very heavy and feels very sturdy. The plastic used in the blade assembly is also very dense and hefty (this unit came with the improved blade that won’t crack). The motor is very high quality as it’s insanely quiet in operation compared to any kitchen appliance I’ve used. I have seen reviews showing cracked units, so I’ll update if I encounter that. Most of the unit is made of plastic, except for the thin brushed metal wrapped around the base.Measurements: The large chute measures 4.5 in x 3 in. The small chute has a 2 in diameter. The bowl interior has a 7 in diameter, and is 5 in high. The entire bowl is 10 in at the widest (including handle and locking mechanism), and 9.5 in high including the chute. The base is 10.5in x 8 in x 5.5 in (L x W x H), and the post is 2.8 in high. The lower blade is about 1 mm from the bottom of the bowl, and there’s about 2-3 mm of clearance from the blade tips to the edge of the bowl.[Features]The unit comes with the base, blade, container, large pusher, small pusher, medium slicing attachment, medium shredding attachment, and spatula. It’s disappointing it doesn’t come with an adjustable slicing blade or dicing kit like the 13-cup Cuisinart Elemental, but that one is not reviewed as well. I don’t think such options are even available for this model. I hope Cuisinart can release a bundle with this machine and accessories similar to the Elemental in the future.Buttons: This has an on button that stays depressed when pressed, and an off/pulse button that pulses the motor and turns off the motor if on was pressed - simple and elegant. The tactile feel of the buttons is quite nice, and their large size and travel is very helpful compared to tiny touch buttons or a touch screen, especially if your hands are a bit greasy/wet from working with food.[Use]Chopping: Although it doesn’t dice, it does chop food quite uniformly, as long as you don’t overload the container with large chunks. The motor has a braking function after you let go of the button that immediately stops the blade so you’ll never over-process. It’s a lot better than my blender, which doesn’t stop immediately. It’s also harder to take food out of the blender and clean since it has a non-removable base. I’ve used the Cuisinart to make salsa and it excels at it. The large capacity is also great.Slicing: Slicing creates nice and even pieces and food rarely gets left on top of the disc. It’s insanely fast at slicing vs a mandoline, but maybe not as accurate. One annoying thing is that the chute requires the pusher to be inserted to work, which prevents you from slicing longer foods without cutting them.Shredding: Shredding is as good as slicing. It gives great results and is especially useful for hard but slippery foods like beets or potatoes (for making borscht and hash browns). Compared to a box grater, it’s a lot faster and you won’t mix any of your blood with the food. I also can’t shred at all with my blender or stand mixer. I’m not sure I’d shred soft stuff like cheese though, as the cleanup vs a box grater doesn’t seem worth it.Dough: Since I have a stand mixer already, I don’t really use this to mix or knead dough, since it creates a mess. I’ve used it to cut butter into flour, which it excels at compared to a stand mixer. The instruction manual warns you not to mix dough that you would have trouble kneading by hand.Meat: A special note about meat. The Cuisinart doesn’t grind meat per se, but rather purees it. However, this means it’s great for making stuff like tartare, beef meatballs for hotpot, baby food, etc. With a blender, if you try pureeing meat, you’ll get strands of collagen wrapped around the blade shaft, and it’s almost impossible to get rid of, but with the Cuisinart it’s a cinch to clean up.Nuts: This doesn’t work as well for nut butter compared to my blender. The blender is so powerful that it just outclasses the food processor on speed and creaminess of the result. I’m also worried that the blade will dull after using it a lot with nuts, while the blender’s blades are dull to begin with.Washing: I only handwash the machine. While the inside of the container and lid are very simple and have no nooks and crannies, food can definitely get stuck in the other parts. The attachment disks are crimped on the bottom edges with a deep groove that could collect food. The worst design is that the pushers have holes on the pushing side. It’s really hard to cram any scrubber into the pushers to clean these areas. The locking mechanism is also not sealed and so if you aren’t careful you could splash food into it.Assembly: Assembly is quite straightforward. I haven’t had any issues with the locking mechanism. It does have an additional feature where you cannot remove the container if the lid is locked onto the container, as the lid pushes a small rod down into the base which triggers a button that allows the motor to function. I could imagine that someone twisting the container off could possibly break this plastic rod.[Conclusion]Overall I’m quite pleased with this device and I think it deserves the top marks it’s gotten from other reviewers. Pros include quality and consistent results, very quiet operation, and good user interface design. Cons include lack of included accessories, locking mechanism of the chute, and some parts being quite difficult to clean. It definitely beats out a blender or stand mixer for quite a few applications. 4/5.

I ordered this as a gift for my daughter in Kansas. I live in Idaho. Cuisinart sent only the base, the dough lid, a stem mounted cutter, and the center stem. No directions, no blade, no bowl, no lid, no chute, no pusher. Because it was a gift, my daughter didn't tell me most of it was missing. I only discovered that it was useless 18 months later when she asked me what mandolin to buy to cut veggies. I asked her why she was not using her Cuisinart? That's when I discovered Cuisinart sent her only a few random parts and completely ripped me off for the price of a complete unit with extra accessories. I've been forced to buy aftermarket and used parts in the last month to make the crooked Cuisinart ripoff a complete unit at the cost of $100 above the full price I paid Cuisinart for a complete unit with accessories. And these parts I having to aftermarket are obsolete that are old old parts like the two tab lid and bowl assembly when they are four tab now.So a Cuisinart style screwing I got. More like being cheated on by Cuisinart. Customer/Supplier loyalty just left the building. I had been a loyal Cuisinart customer for 40 years. That just ended. Buyer beware. In the future, I'll find an honest competitor.Good machines if they don't steal your money and send you a few miscellaneous things. If Cuisinart made cars, my daughter would have got a box of junk being an engine, a trunk lid, a front wheel and a drive line for the price and photo and sale of a complete new car. I bought and paid for a complete unit with all the bells and whistles like the photo and description. Classic bait and switch. I can only guess that Cuisinart must have noticed that my billing address was in Idaho, my purchase was a gift going to Kansas, and they had some incomplete box of random parts they needed to unload on some unsuspecting sucker. Well they did and got that incomplete box of junk paid for by an unsuspecting and trusting sucker, me, and Cuisinart unloaded and sent that box of random junk off to my daughter. She wondered why I sent her a box of random junk, but didn't have the heart to ask why I ordered her a box of random junk instead of a useful complete machine. Not only do I pay full price for a box of random junk, I have my daughter wondering why I sent her an incomplete box of useless random junk as her birthday gift? Nicely done Cuisinart. Fool me once shame on you; Fool me twice shame on me. My 40 years of being your loyal - read gullible - customer just ended. As The Who put it, "I won't be fooled again."

I’m really happy with my Cuisinart Pro Custom 11. It has plenty of power and handles everything I throw at it—nuts, veggies, you name it. It makes nut butter in about 6 min and quickly chops or dices ingredients evenly.Hard cheeses gave me a little trouble at first, but the manual mentions cutting them by hand beforehand, so that wasn’t a surprise. Cleanup is simple, especially since the parts go right in the dishwasher.My only small complaint is the hole in the bowl that’s exposed once the blade is removed—it can make it a little harder to keep things neat when transferring food.This is my first full-size food processor (I only had a hand-driven one before), and the difference is night and day. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, powerful food processor for home cooking.

This is a very sturdy, very powerful and very quiet food processor. I think it’s the third food processor I’ve owned. I am enjoying the larger bowl size for sure.So far I have used it to make pico de gallo and shredded cabbage for coleslaw and cut onions for hotdogs. It did a great job for all of it. I used the chopping blade for the pico de Gallo and the onions. And I used the shredding disk attachment for the cabbage for the slaw.At first, I couldn’t get it to turn on, ☺️ but, that’s because I had the feeder tube too full for the metal spine on the back of the pusher to completely engage the safety feature.The biggest drawback I see is the way the safety feature on the lid is designed. The safety mechanism is sort of open but at the same time closed if that makes any sense. It’s open enough for stuff to get in there and closed enough for you to have a hard time getting food particles out. You may want to just check and be sure that there’s no food particles On the metal safety spine on the food pusher that you’ll push down into the safety channel on the lid. Otherwise, you will play the game of rinsing and turning it upside down and swishing it/ flipping while holding the white thingy open until you can get the food particle to come out of it. There may be a trick to this I haven’t figured out yet. So far, I really like this processor, And, the prices for extra attachments on the Cuisinart website are very, very competitive with free shipping.

I bought this processor to replace a 40+ year old Cuisinart classic that finally gave up the ghost. I loved that machine! Simple to operate, just one button (on, off, pulse), easy to clean, powerful enough to easily make dough. I wanted another one just like the other one, and this is as close as I could get. This one works fine, but I had so much trouble fitting the lid on the bowl every. single. time. I used it that I finally donated it today. For some reason, Cuisinart changed the lid design on a number of their processors so that the bowl handle is still in front but the lid secures on the opposite side - away from the user, so you can't see what you're doing. Sometimes it clicks into place, sometimes it doesn't. And of course, if it doesn't, it doesn't work. Yesterday what should have been a 10-minute job took half an hour because I couldn't get the lid to click. Part of what I was doing was making bread crumbs, and I really needed a processor. I finally switched to a mini, which took much longer and didn't crumble as finely, but it worked. That's when I put this one aside to donate. So if you have eyes in your hands this will be an excellent purchase for you. For me, I just ordered an 8-cup Elemental, which has a smaller motor but has the bowl and lid working together on the same side and is very sleek-looking. I don't cook as much as I used to, so I'm hoping the Elemental will be the last one I ever need.Update: the Elemental arrived and had to be returned because of a materials defect. But on ordering again, I noticed that this model now has a lid that secures on the same side as the handle, so that's what I ordered. And hallelujah, that's what arrived. It's the good ol' Cuisinart simple beast, perfect for my needs. Apparently there are still some models that lock the lid on the back. I guess the moral of the story is, look very VERY carefully at the photos and make sure what you're ordering is the version you want.

"Oh, I don't need a food processor. I love to chop things by hand! And really, my cheap, tiny blender does just about any job a food processor could do. It's not worth the money!" This has been my mantra for years.Oh, what a fool I was. What a fool!A food processor is such a magical device. You can do things with it that are impossible to do without it!Have you heard of cashew cream sauce? It's fabulous. You soak about two cups of cashews in water for 2 hours, drain and rinse them well, and then toss them in your food processor with a clove or two of peeled garlic, about 2/3 cup of water, and about a teaspoon or so of salt, to taste. Press the power on, and in seconds, you have smooth-bodied, flavourful dip that is extremely versatile. From there, it's all up to your imagination! Add some nutritional yeast to make it taste nice and cheesy, with just a pinch of paprika to bring out those cheesy notes, and serve it with tortilla chips. Or how about a bit of curry powder and some basil to serve with pita chips as a sweet, curry-style dip? Or perhaps you'll use some herbs and pour it over pasta, for a new twist on "lazy pasta night"?Maybe you're no fan of that idea. Well then, how about making pesto right in your own home? Those tiny bottles in the grocery are never as good as the stuff as you can get in a nice restaurant, and they can be damned pricey for such mediocre flavour. Make it yourself, and be amazed!Or what about hummus? You can use a method by Kenji Lopez-Alt over at SeriousEats to make tahini sauce with garlic and lemon that makes for a FANTASTIC base for the best hummus of your life (made with, I suggest, the best on the market, and available also here on Amazon: Soom Foods Pure Ground Sesame Tahini 11oz (2 Pack) )! Sabra has got NOTHING on homemade hummus.There's also the sheer joy of buying nuts in bulk, knowing that you're saving quite a bit of money tossing them into your food processor to get chopped rather than buying them pre-chopped. Or you can quickly chop toppings for a salad. There's a lot of chopping this thing can handle that you might not care to handle yourself!Or, how about this: the best homemade ice cream you've ever had? It's simple; make your custard-style base (I recommend Jeni Britton Bauer's method, Google it or pick up her book here: Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at Home ), freeze it overnight in a big gallon freezer bag laid out flat, and the next day, break it into pieces to throw into your food processor. Then you can whip it to a gorgeous creamy state, add in some flavourings, pour into an ice cream container, and freeze; voila! The best homemade ice cream you've EVER had - guaranteed better than storebought, that's for sure, and a lot healthier, since you're in total control of what goes in it. :)And I'm sure before I even began to write this review, you had your own ideas. Nut butters? Certainly! How about dough? It can do it! Grating cheese? Well, I prefer an old-fashioned box grater, but if you're tired of washing that ol' beast, absolutely, go for one of these! There's just so many wonderful things you can do with this gorgeous machine; and it's outrageously simple to handle. I've seen a great many food processors in family homes; they're awkward, they're cumbersome, and they're very noisy. This isn't whisper-silent, but I can safely use it all hours of the night without losing a finger or waking my sleeping household.Now, I must confess I've had precisely one point of frustration with it since I bought it: I opened it up, threw in an ingredient, put the top back on, hit the "ON" button, and.. nothing. I was dumbfounded. Why isn't this brand new machine working?Turns out, it was a safety feature! I hadn't secured the top, so it didn't come on. And thank goodness! I would've had a big mess on my hands. Knowing that it will simply not turn on if I don't have the top fastened on correctly is a comfort to me; I can get to work and not worry about double-checking that I've put everything back in place just so, and I can trust little ones to put things into it without worrying that they'll get over-excited to turn it on and send ingredients flying around my kitchen! And it's so simple to put together and take apart once you take a few minutes to handle it first-hand.This is a wonderful machine to aid the home cook, and I believe if you've made it this far in my review, you know I'm right. You deserve this. It'll take a special position in your kitchen, just like a KitchenAid; in fact, a KitchenAid and this food processor have a constant presence on my countertop. If you love to cook, and you love to explore new techniques and recipes, then I beg of you; do yourself a big favour and get this today!

This was the blessing I didn't know that I needed. I never dreamed I would use this tool as often as I do. I have mastered pesto's, pasta's, sauces, you name it! My very first endeavor was making pasta, which I was very intimidated by. It made it so easy! We love a good filet and asparagus and the best sauce for that is hollandaise sauce, and this food processor made it a breeze, and it is so delicious! My favorite thing to do is to puree garlic and herbs with my food processor and freeze it in small silicone molds to keep on hand to use while cooking. The garlic grinds so well it is almost a paste and works perfectly for my needs. I have loaded this little machine down and I have never worried about overloading it. She is a chopping, slicing, grinding, blending powerhouse! You can throw everything into the dishwasher which makes clean up a breeze, or just quickly wash it to re-use immediately. I am almost tempted to buy a second unit to keep in storage just as a backup incase anything ever happens to this one.

Excellent choice. Easy to use. Works great!UPDATE: After using this for a couple of weeks, I am fully confident that this Food Processor will be able to handle anything I put into it. The aspect I was most impressed with is that it is VERY quiet. And it has enough weight to stay still on the counter. Also, made mayo, shredded hard parmesan cheese, dough, shredded zucchini, pumpkin, etc. The vegetable intake is large and can accommodate lots of veggies without cutting them into small pieces. Very good workhorse!!!

Reviews are so sketchy these days so it's no wonder trying to find a quality product is anxiety inducing. People do not take the time to look something over before trying to assemble it. The user manual and instruction booklet are in the description in PDF format and are printable. I might add they are also quite detailed. This was a common complaint in the reviews, "no instructions". It's been a number of years since there were user manuals included with a product.We had a Cuisinart food processor in 2019 but was enticed away by the bells and whistles of the Ninja all in one and gave it away in favor of the Ninja. Big mistake, less than 8 months later our food processor bowl fell apart, after they sent us 4 replacement bowls that didn't fit they replaced the entire system with the same one they said no longer existed, it was a 2 1/2 month nightmare. Five years later the replacement Ninja was no longer usable the blender jug and food processor bowl was cracked and leaked. We take care of our things and hand washed the bowl and all parts so the Ninja was not something we were about to re-purchase.We just got this food processor this morning, it is an upgrade from the one we bought in 2019. The bowl is large and will help us in our large batch cooking. Simple and straightforward, quiet and efficient. Contrary to the negative reviews about the bowl being difficult to seat and the lid being hard to put on and lock in place we found that it was an extreme exaggeration. If you look at the base of the machine and line the bowl up with the divots in the bowl you will not have an issue putting it on. The blade goes in after the bowl is seated, not in conjunction with it. The same with the lid, there is a specific way to line it up, and it will easily lock into place and unlock just as easily for that matter if you take the time to look it over. There is no need to wrestle with it. My wife made falafel in it this morning and it worked like a champ! Clean up was very easy as well. We cook 90% of our meals from scratch so we actually use our appliances daily. With our medium sized family of 5 we are always chopping, prepping and spend a great deal of time in the kitchen. I feel the quality and power is here and will keep up with our family's needs. I also feel that this machine will last for years if it is well maintained.Take the time to look at things before you try to assemble them and most definitely before leaving a bad review. When others are looking at making a large purchase like this, hasty reviews are not helpful. With inflation and horrible products on the market that are junk it's hard enough to make an informed decision without having to sort through negative things that are most often user error not the product itself.
